Support at Home Program
The new government-funded aged care program helping older Australians live independently at home for longer. Let Australian Community Aged Care guide you through the process.
What is the Support at Home Program?
Support at Home is the new Australian Government-funded aged care program that replaced the Home Care Packages Program and Short-Term Restorative Care Programme on 1 November 2025.
The program was developed in response to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety's recommendation to simplify and improve in-home aged care services for older Australians.
Support at Home brings together multiple programs into one streamlined system, making it easier to access the care you need to remain safe, independent, and connected to your community.

How Long Will It Take to Receive Services?
Wait times for Support at Home funding depend on your assessment date, your priority category, and whether you're approved for a short-term pathway.
The higher your priority category, the less time you'll generally wait to start receiving your approved funding.
Interim funding may be available if there's high demand. This provides 60% of your total funding classification so you can access critical services while waiting for full funding.

What Will It Cost You?
You will need to contribute towards the cost of your services, based on the service being delivered and what you can afford.
You may also have to provide information about your income and assets to Services Australia to work out exactly how much you will be asked to contribute.
Under Support at Home, you only pay contributions on the services you have received. You won't contribute to any clinical support costs.
