  • One of the most common questions people ask at the start of their aged care journey is: “How can I receive government-subsidised aged care services?”

You may be eligible if you have:

    • noticed a change in what you can do or remember

    • been diagnosed with a medical condition or reduced mobility

    • experienced a change in family care arrangements, or

    • experienced a recent fall or hospital admission.

To find out if you are eligible for services, the first step is to have an assessment. Assessments are done in person, usually at your own home.

  • Once you’ve chosen your preferred provider, they will offer you an agreement before you start to receive services. Each type of care has a different type of agreement.

  • Compare providers is a useful feature in the Find a provider tool that helps you shortlist aged care providers and find the right one for your needs. Here, you can save the providers you are interested in and compare them side by side.

When you find a few providers you’d like to explore further, click the ‘Compare’ button to save them. Then you can return to this page to see a side-by-side comparison. You can pick up to three providers at a time to compare.

The Compare option is available for both Home Care Packages and aged care homes.
